The Australian Government has announced competition limits which it says will allow a competitive auction by telcos bidding for 5G spectrum in the 3.6 GHz band.

The move to 5G mobile services in regional Australia and metropolitan areas has taken a further step forward with the Federal Government’s announcement that 125 MHz of spectrum in the 3.6 GHz band will be sold at competitive auction.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has started the process of re-allocating spectrum in the 3.6 GHz band which will pave the way for the introduction of 5G mobile broadband services in Australia.
